Context

Local Police Courts are the institutions in Chile responsible for administering justice in matters such as traffic fines, neighborhood coexistence, Consumer Law, Electoral Law, among others.

They depend on Municipalities, not the Judicial Branch of the State; therefore, their resources (human and technological) are directly related to the reality of each municipality, and electronic processing of cases is only a "recommendation," not a legal obligation.

Currently, many Local Police Courts still exclusively process "on paper" or electronically record only the filing of cases and not each of the proceedings that shape their processing.

Confidentiality agreements prevent the display of more interfaces.

Methodology

Solution

In response to this context, A Un Toque develops its platform for Local Police Courts as a solution designed to process cases, unlike competitors' software, which were developed from adapted platforms originally intended for HR management, administrative management, among others. This results in a natural language interface for the user.

The development of the solution required visiting Local Police Courts with different budgetary and technological realities, conducting interviews with their staff, non-participant observation sessions, reviewing documents validated by the courts in their practice, etc. In order to understand their different users, rural and urban particularities. Finally, initiating a design process to meet their needs.
